Bug Walk

Check out what we found on our bug walk.

Our focus was to see what we could find and where certain bugs lived. Manaaki (care) or the bush and bugs was key.

Rimu 5 & 6 posing at Papakowhai Reserve

What is this bug called?

Can you name this beetle?

What do you think lives in there?

Spider webs everywhere!

Cicada shell

Just beautiful!

On our way there.

Where does this path lead?

What do you think did this?

Ooh, what's this?

Webs galore!

A lovely end to the walk.

Do you think the butterfly would like a cuddle?

Our trip to Te Papa was spectacular. The Buglab is full of wonderful displays and information around the focus of our current Inquiry unit - How bugs help us.

Morning tea stop in the foyer to avoid the rain.
Checking out the M.A.F. area.

Beautiful digital fireflies following us into Buglab.

Creating enough heat to cook the Hornet.

Bombardier Beetle slide.

Finding out how bugs help us. So interesting!

Orchid Mantis pod

Jewel Wasp pod

Creating origami flying objects

A fun walk through Bush City at the end. There weren't any bugs around though, the rain had only just stopped.
